It is also for those who have been practising for years but feel something is missing — who want to understand the why beneath what they do.

Something shifts when people gather to pay attention to their bodies in an unhurried, supported environment. Conversations that don't happen elsewhere. A quality of presence that is hard to find alone. These connections — with your own body and with others doing the same — are part of what you take home.

An Introduction to Artemis Movement A Weekend Workshop in Embodied Practice Your body already knows. Let's practice listening. You have never been without your body. It has been here the whole time — breathing, adapting, holding you upright, carrying you forward through all your life’s experiences. Quietly intelligent and remarkably faithful it has been waiting for this conversation. Artemis Movement is a somatic practice developed over nearly three decades, drawing on anatomy, nervous system science and embodied intelligence. It begins not with what the body should do, but with what it already is — already doing, already knowing — and asks how we might move with greater ease, depth and pleasure when we learn to work with that intelligence rather than override it. This weekend in Wirksworth is an invitation into that practice. What to Expect: Over two and a half days, Christy will guide a small group through the foundational principles and practices of the Artemis method. You will leave with five 12-minute movement practices — yours to use at home, build on in class, or return to whenever you need to come back to yourself. Together they form a clear three-month personal practice. The Weekend Includes: The Wellness Wheel - A quietly radical look at the fundamentals we abandon first when life gets busy — sleep, breath, hydration, rest, connection. We will look honestly at where each person is, without judgment, and find small ways to make the most difference. Breathwork - There is a difference between activity and recovery, and most of us have forgotten how to do the latter. These short guided breath practices are among the most immediately effective tools in the Artemis toolkit — accessible anywhere, requiring nothing, and cumulative in their benefit. Movement Matters - Movement is already happening inside you at every moment. This session explores what it means to move well across all dimensions — internal and external, conscious and automatic — and why this fuller understanding changes how we age, how we recover and how we feel in daily life. Choosing to Live Well -Sustainable wellbeing is not about willpower. It is about understanding what genuinely supports you — and what quietly undermines you. Daily Tools for Living - Three core practices that, done consistently, will shift your body's baseline within two weeks. Not a programme to follow perfectly — tools to reach for, especially when life gets in the way. Five Movement Practices - Five sequences, each twelve minutes, progressing from simple to more layered. Designed to build balance, postural stability and functional mobility — not by forcing the body into shape, but by restoring the conditions in which the body reorganises itself.

Your Body as Land: A Retreat Experience in Saint Vincent & the Grenadines. To practice Artemis is to be invited, seriously and without apology, into your body of discovery. St. Vincent is not shy, this island. She is lush and purposeful. During this retreat we will strip back to what is essential, caring for our body as you would care for the land. Not adding more but returning to your innate nature. We will rise with the light. We will eat what the island gives us: fruit that weighs the trees, vegetables from the hillside, light soups that nourish and teas that detox. We will walk mountain trails, stand under waterfalls, bathe in rivers, swim in the sea, and practice Artemis Movement in the open air. To practice Artemis is to arrive somewhere ancient in yourself. Scotland asks this of you without hesitation. The Cairngorms do not soften. This landscape is granite and heather, dark sky and running water, a place shaped by frost and glaciers over millennia. During this retreat we will return to the body through the land - not by adding more but by stripping back to what is essential. We will rise early and walk in the hills. We will immerse in cold lochs and come alive by firelight. We will practice Artemis Movement in a hunting lodge beside the River Avon, stoke fires, share poetry and sleep deeply in a place that does not pretend.
